Braylon, watching the 2015 Boston Marathon on Route 135 in Natick.
I'm 6'3", I weigh 230 pounds, and I don't have very good cardiovascular endurance. I am not built to run long distances. However, in life I have a habit of taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
That is what drove me to decide to run the New York Marathon in 2007. I was at a point in my life where I needed something to help something to clear the fog. It had to be big, it had to be powerful, it had to be significant.
Flash forward to 2016 and I'm now 2 years into one of the most immersive jobs I can think of...and the fog is as thick as ever. This time it isn't enough to run for myself. Unlike Charles Barkley, I am a role model. I want to show my kids what hard work and sacrifice for a goal looks like. My kids are now old enough to remember that their old man could get it done when he put his mind to it and I'm old enough to know I'm not 35 anymore and probably shouldn't wait much longer to "get it done".
